The interviewer asks this question to see both how you would approach those you lead and how you would view those who you’d work under and also to know what personality traits you value. Discuss the benefits of both traits instead of limiting to one, speak positively, use an example of leader you know who exhibits the traits you discuss. If your answer is feared it may signal that you would lead to assertively. If your answer is liked it could demonstrate you wouldn't have proper control over those you manage. Don’t limit yourself to one, don’t say neither without providing third option.
